75% of Doctors would refuse the therapy they adminster

I collect data and treatments about cancer treatment in America from the research I have done to clear my protozoa parasite condition.  Cancer in America has always intrigued me in that billions of dollars have been spent in research and yet nothing really has been accomplished.   In other parts of the world, treatments do not resemble those in America yet our system is promoted as the greatest.

I read some comments concerning if physicians would administer the current cancer protocol to themselves in which it appears that 75% of them would not.

Dr. Hans Nieper was a German doctor who utilized a multi-pronged approach to treat cancer of which ozone was one of them,  stated "You wouldn’t believe how many FDA officials or relatives or acquaintances of FDA officials come to see me as patients in Hanover. You wouldn’t believe this, or directors of the AMA, or ACA, or the presidents of orthodox cancer institutes. That’s the fact."

The following is from http://www.curenaturalicancro.com/2-physicians-refuse-chemo.html

The great lack of trust is evident even amongst doctors. Polls and questionnaires show that three doctors out of four (75 per cent) would refuse any chemotherapy because of its ineffectiveness against the disease and its devastating effects on the entire human organism. This is what many doctors and scientists have to say about chemotherapy:

“The majority of the cancer patients in this country die because of chemotherapy, which does not cure breast, colon or lung cancer. This has been documented for over a decade and nevertheless doctors still utilize chemotherapy to fight these tumors.” (Allen Levin, MD, UCSF, “The Healing of Cancer”, Marcus Books, 1990).

“If I were to contract cancer, I would never turn to a certain standard for the therapy of this disease. Cancer patients who stay away from these centers have some chance to make it.” (Prof. Gorge Mathe, “Scientific Medicine Stymied”, Medicines Nouvelles, Paris, 1989)

“Dr. Hardin Jones, lecturer at the University of California, after having analyzed for many decades statistics on cancer survival, has come to this conclusion: ‘… when not treated, the patients do not get worse or they even get better’. The unsettling conclusions of Dr. Jones have never been refuted”. (Walter Last, “The Ecologist”, Vol. 28, no. 2, March-April 1998)

“Many oncologists recommend chemotherapy for almost any type of cancer, with a faith that is unshaken by the almost constant failures”.(Albert Braverman, MD, “Medical Oncology in the 90s”, Lancet, 1991, Vol. 337, p. 901)

Does any of this make sense?

More time lapse

An amateur astronomer Alex Cherney, put together an awesome time-lapse video of the Australian night sky over the ocean. The clip includes 30 hours of exposure (don't worry, it's condensed down into two minutes and 41 seconds), which took over one year to compile.

Efflux Pump Inhibitors

I wrote previously about my quest to kill a protozoa parasite that is showing heavy resistance to anti protozoal drugs.  I was able to obtain good die off using Nitazoxanide (Alinia) then adding Paromomycin about three days after the Nita.  I was under the belief that the Biofilm environment was the culprit but after reviewing the material again, I realize that the efflux pumps are to blame.  Previous post here

So in my quest to finally kill a parasite that has made me very miserable, I have assembled a list of natural substances that show inhibition of the efflux pumps.  I will be taking the inhibitors with the drugs.  I compiled this list from several medline sources.

Update: I have found that goldenseal leaf (not root) is one of the most effective. Hemp oil (not marijuana oil) has had a great effect. I use both of these with natural antimicrobials such as caprylic acid, neem, black seed, black pepper and graviola. Graviola is also reported to be an efflux pump inhibitor as well. The infection has subsided using these products.

Cancer and Microbes

In my search for healing modalities, I have built a good sized library of effective treatments.  I have done many many hours of reading and have a penchant for cancer related articles.   I first became interested when I owned a Rife machine to help me kill the microbe that was snuffing my life.  I read profusely about his work that was documented by Barry Lynes in the book The Cancer Cure That Worked.    Rife believed that cancer was caused by a microbe, be it a bacteria, fungus or virus.  He used him machine to produce a frequency that would implode a part of the pathogen.  Of course due to the economic interest of others, Rife was destroyed.

Many others preceded Rife and many others picked up different facets of the microbe theory, the most recent being Dr. Simoncini.   Simoncini is an Italian doctor who uses sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to treat tumors.  He simply injected this substance into the tumors and they shrank.  He believes that the tumors are fungal in origin and since sodium bicarbonate is anti-fungal, the tumors shrink.

I probably have 400 notepad articles on cancer strategies which most are simply antimicrobial.  For instance in my search for herbals to kill my protozoa parasites, I spent considerable time combing through material such as Amazon rainforest herbs in which most of the herbs that are antimicrobial happen to be anticancer like Graviola.  I also found remedies like this one  written by a priest which uses natural substances (read more here).   Beside using these therapies there are common sense things like proper nutrition (magnesium, vitamin D etc).

Back to the microbe theory in which I found this website which has the best explanation of the microbe theory of cancer http://www.alternative-cancer-care.com/Cancer_Fungus.html

Here is an excerpt of the website:

Cancer Fungus: The Link Between The Microbe And Cancer
The cancer fungus link is well-documented.  Fungus is a microbe, and many scientists believe viruses, fungus and bacteria are all different stages of the microbe life cycle. The microbe has long been associated with and identified as a possible cause for cancer.

A large and significant number of independent cancer researchers, scientists, microbiologists and prominent medical practitioners over the past 100 years [as shown below] have found over-whelming evidence supporting this cancer fungus link or link between cancer and the microbe. They have also discovered and observed that this microbe is pleomorphic (form-changing), meaning it changes back and forth from (harmless) spore form to (harmful) virus form, bacterial form and yeast-like fungus form.  This microbe, they have found, is always present in cancer/tumor cells.

History of the Sky

A nice video -click on the YouTube Icon at the bottom right of the video to be taken to the YouTube site to be viewed at a larger format.

From the creator's video description:

This is a year-long time-lapse study of the sky. A camera installed on the roof of the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco captured an image of the sky every 10 seconds. From these images, I created a mosaic of time-lapse movies, each showing a single day. The days are arranged in chronological order. My intent was to reveal the patterns of light and weather over the course of a year.

This video is designed to be viewed in a large format, so it's best viewed in full-screen mode at 1080p.

4 Points

I am a novice practitioner of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) of which Acupuncture is just one aspect of the practice.   I do not pay $75+ for a treatment that I can do at home with a $2.99 low level red laser I buy at Walgreens.  TCM is a long established modality that spans perhaps 2000 years and the wisdom is passed through the generations so that all may benefit from it.

Acupuncture simply allows energy to flow through meridians of the body.  The Chinese identified that organ systems such as the liver flows through certain points which can be anywhere from a few to many points.  They traditionally use needles which are not painful by the way but it has been found that other techniques can work as well such as the low-level red laser mentioned above or by simply tapping or rubbing the points with your fingers.  As a side note, massage and stretching probably work by helping energy flow through these meridians.

There are many 'cookbooks' that are available for referencing the points.  Cookbooks are just a compendium of relevant points that apply to your situation.  Some of the trick with TCM is finding an experienced practitioner who can ascertain what exactly the problem is but for simpler problems, cookbooks work fine.    One of my problems and for those who suffer from infective states is that the liver becomes overburdened due to the toxic byproducts of the immune response and the loss of cysteine/glutathione which is essential for liver detoxification.  I can particularly tell when the liver is stagnant by simply rubbing the appropriate points (LIV 3 in my case) and if I experience pain then I know the meridian is burdened.

I was diagnosed by two practitioners that the liver was stagnant.   The liver in Chinese thought is where anger  and irritability lies, which is no wonder since the liver is there to detoxify all the poisonous compounds we manufacture and consume on a daily basis.

I found an article written by Diane Joswick L.Ac. in which she discusses the liver and liver qi stagnation that is very interesting.   She calls this technique the 4 points in which the left and right LIV3 and the LI4 points are stimulated.  Joswick states "According to the philosophy of Chinese medicine, the liver is responsible for the smooth flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body and smoothing our emotions. Anger, irritability, and frustration are all signs that our Qi is not flowing smoothly"  (1)

The liver is not only the seat of emotions but plays key roles in metabolism.  Joswick continues this by saying " The liver filters over a liter of blood every minute.  It is responsible for detoxifying, nourishing, replenishing and storing blood.  It also acts to energize the blood by releasing stored sugar and it recombines amino acids to create the protein our bodies need to grow and repair tissue"  (1)

I must add that this article is for education purposes only, and is not meant to diagnose or treat any condition, please discuss this with your healthcare provider.  Please educate yourself and consult with your physician before starting any health regimen particularly with pregnant women.

Crohn's & Ulcerative Colitis

I had a chance to talk with Jay at Crohnsboy.com who is an interesting and educated man.  Jay's site includes information on both Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis.    We discussed the use of the Lactoferrin/Xylitol protocol that I have developed here .    Biofilm research is growing daily and reveals some fascinating discoveries concerning pathogenic organisms.   Biofilms are shielded communities of organisms that makes either the natural immune responses or antibiotics difficult to eradicate.

We discussed the issues of pathogenic organisms in the involvement of Crohn's which could be bacterial dysbiosis or protozoa in nature.  We also discussed the need for accurate pathogen identification.  Testing with PCR analysis from Metametrix (GI Effects) was talked about as a means of accurate stool testing versus traditional stool testing.

Jay has a diverse amount of information on his website http://crohnsboy.com/ from the SCD diet to colostrum to dietary strategies to a whole host of other treatments.  If you are suffering with Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis, I would highly recommend his site.

Drugs on the Water

You are what you drink or was that 'eat' -  the water you may be drinking is contaminated with prescription drugs ranging from anti-depressants, to asthma medication.   Americans spent over $230 Billion in 2008 and the drug residues are poisoning our water supply.  Based on  rough calculations this amounts to 50 billion pills taken per year by Americans. According to water experts, many people  flush their unused prescriptions down the toilet, and many drugs are not synthesized by the body, so where does it go?  In our water supply.

Many have considered the effects from these drugs, according to iwawaterwiki they state:

"The presence of anti-depressants and mood stabilizers in drinking water supply may lead to mental, behavioral and/or emotional disorders undetectably to adults and children .  And while researchers do not yet understand the exact risks from decades of persistent exposure to random combination of low levels of pharmaceuticals, recent studies — which have gone virtually unnoticed by the general public — have found alarming effects on human cells and wildlife ( Donn, Mendoza, and Pritchard, 2008). Some of the prescription drugs in drinking water do not usually create cancer on their own, but elevate the activity of other carcinogens in causing cancer. Also, the human body attempts to mitigate these carcinogens through biotransformation.  Unfortunately, biotransformation of carcinogens can also make carcinogens more toxic in the human body." (1)

It is recommended that proper disposal is the first line of solving this problem, the second line of defense is using adequate filtration of the water in which reverse osmosis is one of the choices.

Fluoride

Here is a popular topic to talk about - no, no, not really.   You have two very polarized sides of this debate.   Lets take a look at their positions and explore why this is an important topic.

Government stance:  Fluoride is a safe substance to use and it helps prevent dental cavities.

Non-government stance:  Fluoride is a poison that disturbs many biochemical functions such as the immune system and neurological health.

My point:  Risking cancer and neurological problems for the sake of fewer cavities makes no sense, and studies that show lower cavitations from its use are questionable.

Fluoride is a mineral that is the most electro-negative element.  This means it is an oxidizer and oxidants can be bad.   It was added to the water supply after World War II in which it was reported that the Germans used fluoride for sedative purposes of its prisoners with the purpose of limiting uprisings.   Fluoride is a toxic byproduct from industrial applications and the sale of it to municipal water facilities was based on the premise of reducing dental cavities.

Like most things, there are always two sides of the coin, a ying and yang of sorts.  Unfortunately the flip side of the fluoride coin has some pretty nasty traits.  Of course you learn in sales to accentuate the positive and downplay the negative, a simple principle that works.   Call this 'good sales techniques' or call it manipulation, or call it lying, you take your pick.

The downside of fluoride is much more than the upside of preventing a few cavities.  Sort of like a 800 pound gorilla on one side of the teeter totter and a 5th grade boy on the other.   By the way, cavities are caused by biofilm bacteria, so cavities can be prevented by mechanically scrubbing the biofilms away (brushing) and with the use of essential oils which Listerine contains four of those.   Throw away the fluoride, scrub the biofilm bacteria away with brushing and swish some Listerine or other mouthwash that has essential oils in them.  Link   or this Link

Back to the downside of fluoride, the problem is that there is just not one downside but lets try 5 downsides and most of them are pretty ugly.

A.  The Brain:  Studies show that fluoride causes the following problems:  reduced IQ, damage to the memory center (hippocampus), formation of beta-amyloid plaques. (2)  etc.

B  The immune system:  Many studies have shown that fluoride disrupts the immune system. The Department of Health in New Jersey found that bone cancer in male children was between two and seven times greater in areas where water was fluoridated..  Fluoride proliferates tumors (3)

C.  The remaining three downsides (short list) are thyroid inhibition, bone formation  and reproductive health.  And there are more.

Dr. William Hirzy, EPA scientist, stated that "fluoride (that is added to municipal water) is a hazardous waste product for which there is substantial evidence of adverse health effects and, contrary to public perception, virtually no evidence of significant benefits"

In the United States, municipalities not using fluoride are the minority.  Europe is much more progressive when dealing with fluoride, 97% of western Europe has chosen fluoride-free water . This includes: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, and Switzerland. (While some European countries add fluoride to salt, the majority do not.) Thus, rather than mandating fluoride treatment for the whole population, western Europe allows individuals the right to choose, or refuse, fluoride. (1)

Ozone Therapy

Of all the therapies that I have done, I found that Ozone therapy to be the best hands down.  I purchased a medical grade device that uses a pure oxygen feed to generate high gamma ozone.  I purchased this from Ozone Services and use an oxygen concentrator (low lpm) to provide the oxygen.

Ozone is oxygen times 3.  Oxygen is O2 while ozone is O3, basically it is oxygen with a singlet oxygen molecule added.   It is an unstable molecule in that after 20 minutes or so, it dissipates.   Ozone is an oxidant and is the most oxidizing substance behind fluoride which you should never use, but that is another story.   Ozone was first discovered and named by German scientist Christian Frederick Schonbein in 1840.  In American circles, it has a negative connotation while in other parts of the world it is used extensively in medical circles.  It was widely used in hospitals in America and when the pharmaceutical interests became prevalent, it was derided due to the economic interests of western medicine.  Ozone has a wide range of benefits, mostly for treating infectious conditions, detoxifying harmful chemicals from the body and providing oxygen to bring healing to wounds, burns and other maladies.

Ozone is not a dangerous therapy, but is safe according a study done by the German Medical Society in which  Ozone, in which  644 therapists were polled regarding their 384,775 patients, comprising a total of 5,579,238 ozone treatments administered. There were only 40 cases of side effects noted out of this number which represents the incredibly low rate of .000007%, and only four fatalities. Ozone has thus proven to be the safest medical therapy ever devised. 1

What Does Ozone Do?

Ozone :

· Inactivates viruses; oxidizes bacteria, yeast, fungi, parasites, protozoa, cancer cells

· Stimulates the immune system, speeds healing

· Cleans arteries and veins, improving circulation

· Purifies the blood and the lymph

· Oxidizes toxins, facilitating their excretion

· Normalizes hormone and enzyme production

· Reduces inflammation

· Reduces pain, calms nerves

· Prevents shock

· Prevents stroke damage

· Reduces cardiac arrhythmia

· Improves brain function and memory

· Scavenges free radicals

· Chelates heavy metals, working well in conjunction with EDTA

· Stimulates production of protective cell enzymes (2)

Efflux Pumps and Antibiotic Resistance

I was infected with an unknown protozoa parasite in which I developed Cushing's disease in which the adrenals were/are overreacting to produce adrenal hormones to combat the infection.  The adrenals stimulate several defense mechanisms to prevent the infection from killing me which includes antimicrobial peptides such as defensins.

This parasite took a great toll on me in various ways, I went from running a business to being bedridden for most of the day.  At this point I am reasonably functional but not near the point I was before and will not return to full functioning until the parasite is eradicated.   I am still amazed of how ignorant most are about parasitical diseases and more ignorant about protozoa parasites.   This is frustrating to me to say the least.   Perhaps the most frustrating is the notion that Americans are immune from parasitic infection, this was espoused by the CDC and this position is still held today by most physicians.  True, Americans are less prone to parasites as most parasites are transmitted through improper hygeine such as untreated water.  Water is a great vehicle (vector) for many protozoa species such as e. histolytica which tragically kills many people in third world countries.

Worms and flukes are typically transmitted via animals (undercooked meat) and fish.  And this is why I would never eat Sushi :(.   I do not trust others handling my food for me and carefully use safe handling practices as well as carefully sanitizing any fresh fruits and vegetables.   I believe that parasitic infection is much more of a problem than the medical system recognizes, part of that is the taboo nature of parasites, the second is the symptomatology of parasite infections.  The problem with parasitic infections is detection and recognition of the symptoms.   Many species will lay dormant in the intestinal tract causing no major problems, other species will cause a living hell.  This is due to host immunity and the parasite species infecting you.

I removed a roundworm infection using an herbal combination of neem, myrrh, boswellia and enteric coated oil of oregano.  I believe that the roundworms had been there since my teen years in which I developed some subtle problems.   The protozoa species came on like a vengence in which I began to develop strange symptoms such as anxiety, depression, joint pain, a sore throat and IBS.  I began to have severe problems with sleep, stress reactions, brain fog and cognitive issues.  Within 3 months of contracting the infection, I knew something was seriously wrong, I was sweating and felt tormented.   I began to have serious fatigue in which I was exercising regularly and could not longer do so, walking a quarter of a mile was taxing.  Just a few years earlier, I was attending US Army Airborne School which is no walk in the park. The parasitic infection caused my muscles  to hurt and could not raise my hands above my head to shampoo my hair.   I knew something was seriously wrong and knew I was in danger.   All the blood testing did not reveal the infection and typically screening will not, the only effective way is via PCR analysis and if you get lucky a standard stool test.

It has been up to me to do the research and the treatment strategy since the medical system refuses to treat based upon the unknown taxonomy of the parasite.   I have learned antimicrobial strategies that center around anti-protozoa agents which also include antibiotics.   I have been forced to obtain the drugs from legal sources.   I have also done many herbal antibiotic substances and self-adminstered ozone therapies all to no avail.

These parasites are quite resistant and have been able to attack them successfully a few times only to have them return.   In my forum at pptu.lefora.com, I have explored various treatment strategies and have done copious research on different strategies.   I developed a biofilm protocol that utilizes some natural substances.  It was my belief that the biofilm enviroment held the power of the antimicrobial resistance via the efflux pump.   I have now clarifed that the efflux pump can exist outside of the biofilm environment and now will be focusing on natural substances that bind the efflux pump.

The efflux pump is literally a pump that resides in the cells of certain organisms that job is to pump out any substance that threatens its survival.  Antibiotics of course threaten the pathogen.  Antimicrobial resistance has come into the light as a serious threat to mankind and many researchers have undertaken this to develop new strategies to disable the efflux pump.  It appears that many pharma agents are being developed but these are out of reach for me so I am researching natural substances.  So far I am finding a number of good candidates that include goldenseal, green tea and a few other herbs.   I am hoping to modify my antiprotozoa agent protocol to include efflux pump inhibitors so that I may finally eradicate this horrible infection.

Fibonacci

A very cool video about Fibonacci numbers that are found in Nature.

Dr. Klinghardt on parasites

Courtesy of www.betterhealthguy.com/joomla/blog/242-a-deep-look-beyond-lyme

*My note:  Dr. Klinghardt address parasites as worms/flukes but did not address the protozoa parasite.

Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt - Parasites

• Dr. Klinghardt has found immense success in treating parasites as a focus. Many that think Lyme is their problem actually are suffering from parasites. The natural sequence is to treat the parasites first and then treat the Lyme. When this is done, years of antibiotic therapy turns into weeks or months.

• Parasite patients often express the psyche of the parasites - sticky, clingy, impossible to tolerate - but a wonderful human being is behind all of that.

• We are all a composite of many personalities. Chronic infections outnumber our own cells by 10:1. We are 90% "other" and 10% "us". Our consciousness is a composite of 90% microbes and 10% us. Our thinking, feeling, creativity, and expression are 90% from the microbes within us. Patients often think, crave, and behave as if they are the parasite. Our thinking is shaded by the microbes thinking through us. The food choices, behavioral choices, and who we like is the thinking of the microbes within us expressing themselves.

• Patients will reject all treatments that affect the issue that requires treating. Patients will not guide themselves to health when the microbes have taken over.

• Viruses in the nervous system are likely not the cause of CFS. They are certainly often present, but when treated, the patient may only get a little better. The two main causes are parasites (mainly lungworm) and chronic nasal staph infection. These nasal infections enter the hypothalamus which then leads to suppression of MSH. One's level of fatigue and level of MSH are directly related. MSH is depressed by bacteria and mycotoxins.

• Parasite treatment may be needed for 6 months to a year.

• Parasites induce changes in our system to make us a comfortable host.

• Natural deworming treatments such as Hulda Clark formulations have been weak and disappointing.

• Mimosa pudica powder is an Ayurvedic herb that is 30 times stronger than the best medical drug. Starting with 1/2 teaspoon twice a day two days a week and working up to 1 teaspoon daily for 3 months.

• Can use rectal application of 1 capsule of BioPure Freeze-dried garlic, 100mg artemisinin, 1 teaspoon phospholipids with pure water in a bulb syringe from the local drugstore. Make the mix liposomal using the ultrasonic method used with the Klinghardt Cocktail. Hold it. This cleans the rectum and then gets absorbed such that many start to see visible evidence of worm elimination.

A good first step in parasite elimination.
• Parasite treatment is best done with concurrent colonic therapy. 2 colonics per week; 1 day after the other.
• Nail biting is a sign of parasites.
• Alinia and Albendazole both cross the blood-brain barrier.
• Deworming is significant in ASD kids. Every biofilm has worm DNA in it.
• The more you deworm, the longer you live and the healthier you are.

Viruses and Vitamin C

Unfortunately living in a global situation, allows rapid transit of pathogenic organisms.  My background is in nutritional sciences and believe strongly in their applications for health.  I have read countless articles about the power of Vitamin C and have witnessed it in eradicating vicious organisms.   Here is a good article concerning viruses and Vitamin C.  I have posted an excerpt of the article, please visit the link for the complete piece.

http://www.patrickholford.com/index.php/blog/blogarticle/420/

An excerpt from an article 'Can vitamin C kill swine flu? (living proof)'

In my June 2005 newsletter I interviewed Dr Thomas Levy, who has provided the definitive proof in his book ‘ Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases and Toxins: Curing the Incurable’.He is one of the world’s experts in effects of vitamin C on viruses. Here’s what he says “I have not found any flu virus for which vitamin C does not exert a virucidal effect, as long as enough vitamin C reaches the virus, such as in any acute infection. I don’t know about Tamiflu, but the vitamin C is virtually devoid of negative side effects.”

Note to Twitter/X people: I had severe ME in which I was bedridden for 20 hours per day for 15 years (I am near normal at this writing, I work full-time and have projects on the side).  I went to 50 practitioners of various sorts from 3 top tier endocrinologists, GPs, CFS doctors, acupuncture, biofeedback, herbalists, homeopaths and everybody in between.

Some were helpful (minor ways) but most were dead ends. I wasted much time, money and the most precious commodity which is hope. Hope is vital for life; I don't need to tell you that.

I started my intensive research after experiencing a major setback. I spent hundreds of hours in the Ohio State Medical Library, making countless phone calls to researchers and was able to uncover the reason behind the setback. I likely have over 30,000 hours in research that mainly centers around peer-reviewed research articles.

Many research hours later, I devote a minimum of 2 hours per day in medical research that I am willing to share with anyone who needs help. I do not ask for anything in return. If you were to scale Mt. Everest, you would ask for a Sherpa who could tell you the pitfalls and how to avoid them, the same should hold true for difficult health challenges. What people think they know and what they truly know are oftentimes two different worlds. Purity of data is important and the ability to spot subtle clues is also important.

ME/CFS and Long Covid (Vax Injury) are complex diseases that require a multi-layered approach. There has to be a sequence of therapies to make this work.

Curriculum vitae is a Latin word that simply means 'the course of my life', it is a compendium of knowledge and experiences that we accumulate in our lifetime.  For me that driving force has been my disease, in which I developed severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or ME.  This condition was sadly called chronic fatigue syndrome which is nothing more than a wastebasket diagnosis according to my friend.

At age 24, I inherited the leadership role at our family business after the untimely death of my father. This event sent me deeper in CFS.

I had suffered with ME for most of my  life, by age 14 I began to exhibit clear signs of ME most likely due to one the many viruses that can be attributed to ME, of course viruses are not the only culprit in this condition.  I also believe that environmental toxins, Vitamin D and magnesium deficiencies and a parasitic worm infection contributed to the disease.

(my blog post on ME/CFS Etiology)

Cortisol is a powerful drug that your body uses to maintain homeostasis.  Homeostasis simply put is balance, in which the body uses a number of modulators to help the body stay in some sense of normalcy.   Cortisol is released under stressful conditions be it psychological in which it is most closely associated but cortisol is released under physical, mental or biological stress.  Biological stress is the least understood of the stressors and includes infections both acute and stealth infections which most ME patients have.  Biological stress also comes from inadequate nutrients such as magnesium and vitamin D but also from environmental toxins in which Americans are exposed to in various ways.  Mercury is a good example of this and for years it was perfectly acceptable to place mercury in your mouth, of course the ADA denied any wrongdoing and today the silver fillings have disappeared not based on toxicity problems but they are not "cosmetically pretty".

Cortisol is a powerful drug that your body releases that serves a number of beneficial processes, unfortunately when cortisol is released continuously, it begins to have deleterious effects such as suppression of the immune system, changes neurological patterns etc.  It is known as a catabolic hormone in which catabolsm simply means to break down, so it breaks down proteins, fatty acids and other nutrients, it does this to prepare the body for the fight or flight syndrome.   It breaks downs those substances to fuel these stress responses.  As a side note, magnesium losses are significant with high cortisol and  magnesium is so closely associated with both the cardiovascular and immune responses.  This why people suffer from heart attacks and immune problems like cancer.  We blame it on stress when really we should blame it on lack of proper nutrition, particularly magnesium.

It was not the viruses or the cortisol that damaged me but rather I contracted a protozoa parasite that did incredible damage to me.  I developed Cushing's disease from the massive immune response, I became incredibly ill and as I tell my friend, "you don't know sick until you know parasite sick".   It was after contracting this that the wheels fell off.  Sadly, it was up to me to diagnose both the Cushing's and the parasite issue, and to add insult to injury, it was up to me to treat this parasite.

I found out the hard way that the medical system is woefully inadequate in solving these complex problems.  So in an effort to resolve my health crisis, I have been diligent in accumulating knowledge, I firmly believe that 'knowledge is power' and that knowledge saved my life and I have proven that by outliving Cushing's disease by some 15 years.   Medical literature points that Cushing's patients typically have short lifespans following diagnosis - most say 5 years is all you get.   The reason is simply in that Cushing's is cortisol on afterburners.   Cortisol wastes nutrients and nutrients not prescription drugs keep our system in tact.

I have never put all the studies (and my personal experiences with these therapies) down on paper, so here it is:

Polyphenol Studies:
Dang, this is an update and prioritized at the top! Why? Because these are powerful medicines. I have spent likely 200+ hours in this study. It is quite a broad topic since there are 8,000 known Polyphenols and these can act on different pathways. The experts tell you to eat your fruits and vegetables, in reality they should be telling you to consume your polyphenols. These are chemicals that are found in plant material with some of the strongest concentrations found in spices and herbs.

They provide an array of protection which includes antioxidant properties, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory etc. Next time you hear about red wine, green tea or dark chocolate, you are hearing about polyphenols. Nature has a vast array of other beneficial chemicals.

Metabolic Pathways:
Another updated study. It is quite important to maintain vital pathways. This is done via nutrients and my favorites; polyphenols.
AMPK
SIRT1 etc.
Keap1
Nrf2
PGC-1

NEI SuperSystem:
Neurological - Endocrine - Immune

A vital and interactive pathway that has been explored in research articles. This is a dynamic system that obviously interplays within each other. Philosophically thinking, this is really one system but medically is considered separate. The premise is that one system can become dominant and when doing so crowds out the other systems. For instance, emotional stressors will trigger cortisol systems (endocrine)which then sets off a domino effect. Cortisol will impact immunity quite negatively, cortisol also attacks the neurological system.

It can work in other ways, for instance a viral infection takes hold which of course triggers immunity, the immune system will call out for support from the endocrine system, the immune system produces byproducts such as cytokines which can pass the blood-brain barrier and impact the neurological. Of course, there are many other examples.

Cell signaling and epigenetics also play a role in this system. The NEI system is one of my favorite studies.
