Arthritis drug effective against protozoa parasites

Researchers at UCSF and UC San Diego discovered that an older drug used in Rheumatoid Arthritis has been shown to kill protozoa parasites (e. histolytica) ten times more effective than the standard Metrodiazole (Flagyl) with few side effects.   The drug is Auranofin and the study can be read here.
