Aluminum toxicity

Studies of Gulf War Veterans who have shown clear signs of illness present ideas that Aluminum may be to blame.   Some with Gulf War Illness have shown increased tendencies towards neurological disorders including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's) .  An adjunct of aluminum was found in Anthrax vaccines and when injected into mice at the same levels, neurological disorders began to appear.   (The Medline study can be found here).  



Other studies that have been conducted have found aluminum toxicity to be a possible etiology in neurological conditions.   TMA (hair analysis) testing and serum testing may not be an adequate form of testing especially if the exposure occurred previously - this is to mean if the  metals are stored in tissue and not released into the blood for removal then these testing methods are of no value.   Furthermore it is shown that aluminum disrupts magnesium utilization which is a critical element in neurological, immune, cardiovascular and enzymatic functions.   Medline studies on magnesium and neuroprotection

I would like to add that any toxic metal will interfere with enzymatic functions including mercury, lead, uranium etc.   Furthermore there are studies that implicate pathogens are being a causative factor in GWI (as well as CFS, ME) including protozoa parasites such as blastocystis hominis  please see  http://www.bhomcenter.org/ for more information.
