Let there be Light

Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.… -Genesis 1:3

Light has always been a strong concept in many religions.  The absence of darkness is light. I have done countless therapies in order to resolve my issues, which also includes a multitude of light therapies such as LED and UV lamps. I progressed to using a combination of Sun therapy and Grounding.

Western Medicine is largely ingrained in American society with the idea that they are the most advanced and most logical choice for those who suffer with maladies. In my case, this has not been a road that has worked for me. This is not to state that Western Medicine is not for you, it is a personal choice that must be made with due diligence.

My personal belief follows much of Eastern and Indigenous thinking that Nature has provided the answers. These therapies are based on rootedness, allowing the body to heal itself assuming it has the right raw materials to do this.

Western living has changed drastically over decades where humans lived close to the land which included foods that were fresh and not altered with chemicals or processing. Many of the modern Western diseases are based on this altered living. One of these is a lack of connectedness with Nature, indoor living has deprived us of Nature's healing. Exposure to the Sun is treated with contempt, so people refuse to go out into the Sun, the other is literally being connected to the Earth (Grounding).

There are receptors in our cells to receive light. Studies have shown the benefits of photons such as NASA's experiments with LED light therapy. These studies showed that certain spectrums of light helped in recovery of ailments.

Sun Therapy is self-explanatory, it simply means being exposed to natural sunlight which provides a host of beneficial spectrum of light.

1/ Produces Vitamin D which is now being shown that many cells need Vitamin D for functioning including immune, neurological and endocrinological.

2/ During the 1918 flu epidemic, patients were taken out into fresh air and sunlight. Studies concluded that patients recovered faster. Harvard published a paper on this entitled "Sunlight and Protection Against Influenza", it can be found here  https://research.hks.harvard.edu/publications/getFile.aspx?Id=1654

3/ Boosts Immunity
Researchers at Georgetown University had this to say about sunlight and immunity:

“We all know sunlight provides vitamin D, which is suggested to have an impact on immunity, among other things. But what we found is a completely separate role of sunlight on immunity,” says the study’s senior investigator, Gerard Ahern, PhD, associate professor in the Georgetown’s Department of Pharmacology and Physiology. “Some of the roles attributed to vitamin D on immunity may be due to this new mechanism.”

They specifically found that low levels of blue light, found in sun rays, makes T cells move faster — marking the first reported human cell responding to sunlight by speeding its pace.

“T cells, whether they are helper or killer, need to move to do their work, which is to get to the site of an infection and orchestrate a response,” Ahern says. “This study shows that sunlight directly activates key immune cells by increasing their movement.”

UV Spectrum
The most prevalent light therapy is the use of UV. UV covers a wide spectrum but most are familiar with UV 3 varieties (UVa, UVb and UVc). Sadly, most information is typically skewed and people only hear the negative effects of UV but there are positive benefits of UV.  The Sun is the best source of UV light. Moderate exposure has proven that it has many positive health benefits.

UV is necessary for the production of Vitamin D levels. Contemporary research has shown the many benefits of Vitamin D from staving off diabetes, it also it works in the Neurological, Immune and Endocrine systems. UV light is anti-microbial and can be used as UV blood irraditation.

Photo-Therapy is used by mainstream medicine . It involves the use of UV light to treat psorasis, Seasonal Adjustment Disorder (SAD) and other neurological diseases.

Color Light Therapy is also known as Chromotherapy. The idea is that light carries energy and this energy is picked up in the body.

"When we speak of color, we mean energy waves. Every color, each with its own frequency, is a form of energy (12). Ghadiali agreed that beaming a color or colors onto the skin acts as a form of feeding color to the body. Patterson of Stellar Research Corporation explains that ‘light is the closest thing to pure energy that we can identify. Colour as pure vibrational energy is the rational therapy for maintaining health and overcoming disease’ (15). When applied to the human body, light will provide all deficient energies since every color is associated with a quantity of energy. A concept from physics confirms the idea of chromotherapists that ‘colors provide energies’."

Grounding

This concept is that we need to be physically connected to the earth without artificial impediments, in other words, come in contact with the ground without shoes.  The idea is quite simple, there are natural frequencies the body resonates with. These frequencies are known as Schumann.

Natural medicine understands that the body, mind and spirit are connected and is dependent on nutrients and balance to function correctly. Adding light can be an integral part of healing.
